Artwork Guidelines


This guide will explain the file formats required from the most popular computer design packages.

Apple Macintosh: PC:

  Freehand MX and below

  Corel Draw 12 and below

  Photoshop 7 and below

  Photoshop 7 and below 
  Quark X Press 6.5 and below  
  Illustrator 6 and below  
  In-Design 3 and below  


We accept the following file formats:

  • JPEG and TIFF files in CMYK at 300dpi. (Please supply in layers if possible to allow colour manipulation.)
  • DCS format with SPOT channels at 300dpi. (Leave as layers where possible.)
  • Freehand: text converted to paths and all hi-resolution images included.
  • Quark and In-Design files: supply all fonts that are used and all hi-resolution images.
  • Illustrator: convert fonts to outline, and supply all hi-resolution images. Do not check Split Complex Paths or Compatible Gradient Printing in the document set up.
  • Corel Draw: text converted to curves, and all hi-resolution images to be supplied.

We do not accept: PowerPoint, Word, Excel and GIF images. Or any low resolution images.

Submission of Artwork:

All artwork must be supplied in digital format via Email (preferred means), or on: DVD, CD, Optical or Zip disks.

Media:

  • Proofing will be done in JPG or PDF format, for visual purposes only. 
  • If artwork is to be re-created then a good quality jpg would be acceptable.
  • Spot colour artwork will be matched as close as possible to visual.
  • Pantone colours must be specified.
  • CMYK colours will be taken from the supplied disk, or are to be specified if new artwork is required.
  • Where colour is critical a high quality proof must be supplied with artwork (e.g. Chromalin, Best colour proof, etc)

Colour Matching:

Whilst every effort is made to match specific colours, due to the nature of the substrate, we cannot guarantee exact matches.
